SKELETON FOUND IN SANDY CLIFF

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 30. The skeleton of a man was found in a sandy cliff near the Karoitahi Gap. about four miles from Waiuku, on Monday afternoon. The remains had not been identified to-night. In July. 1940. ‘Hector McDougall, aged 22, disappeared from his home at Waiuku, and an extensive search was made by the.police in the area. The police and the City Pathologist (Dr. Walter Gilmour) visited the scene to-day. but found nothing sinister. The bones were those of a person of short stature, and had apparently been in the sand for some time. Helicopter Crashes.—Three United States Navy men were kill/ d when a helicopter from the aircjaft-carrier rotor and plunged into a *pile of scrap irorr-Jrr'Naples to-day. December'29.
