BEACH PATROLS

APPOINTMENTS MADE

After extensive tests yesterday the Canterbury Surf Association appointed its beach patrols for Sumner, New Brighton and North Beach for the school holidays. J. Breward was appointed the patrol at Sumner, N. Oberg at New Brighton, and O. Turner at North Beach. The patrols will start duty on Monday, December 22, and will work from Mondays to Fridays, inclusive. On Saturdays and Sundays the patrols will be done voluntarily by members of the various surf clubs. Those appointed become professional swimmers and cannot be reinstated to amateur ranks until 90 days after their work has been completed.
