FURTHER CASES AT AUCKLAND

THREE MORE DIAGNOSED AS POSITIVE

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, December 14. Three more positive cases of infantile paralysis were reported in the Central Auckland health district during the week-end, and one case, a child who had recovered from the disease, was discharged from the Auckland Hospital, leaving 42 positive cases in hospital to-night. Tlie new cases were previously in the hospital as suspects. Four patients, all children, were admitted to hospital as suspects on Saturday, and another child suspect was admitted today. They arelhe only suspected cases now in hospital. Three of them are from the metropolitan area.

{SEVEN SUSPECTED CASES AT WELLINGTON

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 14. Seven suspected cases of infantile paralysis have been admitted to the Wellington Hospital since Friday. One has been diagnosed as negative, and the other six are still on the suspected list. Two earlier suspected cases are still under observation, the suspected cases now totalling eight. The positive cases remain at four. To free .nurses for the handling of poliomyelitis cases, if necessary, the Wellington Public Hospital and the Hutt Hospital have since Wednesday been admitting no “waiting list” general cases who do not require immediate medical attention. The superintendent of the Wellington Hospital, Dr. J. Cairney, said the decision had been made to reduce the strain on general wards in the hospitals.
