ELDERLY MAN ESCAPES FROM BURNING HOUSE

(P.A.) WANGANUI. December 14. When Mr J. Snodwell, an elderly drover, was awakened by an object falling from a mantelshelf in an uncompleted three-roomed house at Wangaehu at 3 o’clock this morning, he found the building was in flames. By the time he reached safety the back had been burnt from the shirt he Was wearing. He was unhurt, but the house was destroyed.
