REFRESHER COURSES FOR TEACHERS

SOME CLASSES TO BE HELD . IN CHRISTCHURCH (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Dec. 13. More than 1000 teachers would take part in five types of refresher courses at various centres throughout New Zealand between January 22 and January 28. The secretary of the Teacher Refresher Courses Committee. Mr J. V Burton announced to-day. Courses for primary and woodwork teachers in the North Island would be held at Auckland. North Island geography and commercial teachers would go to New Plymouth. South Island teachers would go to Christchurch for a woodwork course to Oamaru for geography and commercial courses, and to Dunedin foi a primary course. Arts crafts specialists from both islands go to Feilding. The courses will be conducted in schools or colleges, where most of those attending could live in accommodation normally provided for boarders, Mr Burton said. The Health Department when it was approached, advised the committee that it was unlikely that it would be necessary to cancel the courses because of the infantile paralysis epidemic, he said.
