Wheat Price.— A doubt whether 10s a bushel would attract farmers to grow wheat on marginal land was expressed at a meeting of the Fairlie branch of Federated Farmers. In giving his report of the meeting of the agricultural section, Mr J. O’Neill said that the section was not satisfied with the price offered—Bs a bushel. Farmers to-day had difficulty in securing labour for harvesting and the cost of machines was another factor. The price of meat and wool was more enticing to farmers, and less labour was required with this class of farming. Wheat also took so much out of the land, that a good price was necessary.
