HEALTH PRECAUTIONS As a precaution against any infantile paralysis outbreak, the Lyttelton Borough Council has arranged to flush the main streets every few days with fire-hoses. Owners of fowlhouses are to be warned to clean them thoroughly. The Harbour Board authorities have forbidden bathing in the inner harbour. Awards Announced The following awards made by the Lyttelton Main School are announced: — dux, Joan Valmai Miller; proxime accessit, Valmai Taylor; Herbert Smith cups, swimming, Owen Bacbop, Lesley Hinds; running, K. Findlayson, I. Stechman: Torrens memorial trophy, swimming, Owen Bachop; Old Boys’ Shield, George Vickery; Hamilton Shield, June McKendry (second year); Paul Beattie Cup, Warren Collins.
Persona! Mr and Mrs L. F. Wilson, Cressy terrace, Lyttelton, have been advised that their son, Captain R. F. Wilson, of J Force, has left Japan by air on his return to New Zealand.
