CASUALTY LIST
So far the police have classified 19 persons as officially missing. The names have been placed on the list on the basis of definite evidence from relatives and friends. . There are still 22 names of those reported missing to be checked. SeniorSergeant G. Taylor, assisted by a shorthand typist, worked, all day interviewing people who visited the Central Police Station, and answering dozens of telephone inquiries, including one from the North Island. All names submitted were carefully checked, and classified on a card index system. Every detail which might assist in the indentification of the victims was noted, including jewellery, badges, clothing, fountain pens and pencils, wristlet watches, keys, and other personal belongings. .To-day the work will be continued, and a further check will be made by calling at the homes of relatives or friends.
