Although the public responded magnificently at the fire yesterday, there was o one unfortunate incident. A volunteer worker threw off his coat when the heat became too much for him. He returned later when he was relieved from his work controlling a hose to find that his wallet containing about £4 had been stolen from the inside pocket of his coat
