Queenstown-Gienorchy Road

The Queenstown-Glenorchy road is not likely to be completed for a few years yet. This opinion was expressed in a letter to the Southland Progress League by the Minister of Works <Mr R. Semple). The league recently wrote to Mr Semple asking for the latest infotmation about the proposed road and the estimated cost. In his reply Mr Semple said that consideration had recently been given to the completion of the Queenstown-Glenorchv road. The estimated cost of the 29 miles of road was about £200.000. but it had been found that many works, which carried a higher priority rating than this project, were awaiting completion.
