(P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 8. At an investiture at Government House this evening, the GovernorGeneral conferred the honour of knighthood on Sir Humphrey Francis O’Lesry and invested him with the insignia of a knight commander of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St. George. His Excellency conferred the honour of knight bachelor on Sir Archibald William Blair and Sir William. Perry, M.L.C. Numerous other honours. were conferred.
The Rev. R. S. Watson (Dunedin) was nominated as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand at a meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery last evening.
Mr Lewis M. Foulke. a member of the Californian State Board of Agriculture, arrived at Auckland by fly-ing-boat from Sydney yesterday. Before he leaves for San Francisco on Tuesday he hopes to 3ee as much as possible of North Island dairying.— (P.A.)
Mr A. Dysart, of Hastings, was elected president of the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association at the annual meeting at Invercargill yesterday. Messrs F. Reynolds (Whangarei), G. W. Spragg (Auckland), and H. Holmes (Gisborne) were elected life members.—(P.A.) The Christchurch Presbytery’s delegates to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand at Christchurch next month will be the Revs. D. F. Mackenzie, H. Grahame, J. E. Stewart. J. S. Strang, S. C. Francis. F. W. Winton. L. McMaster, P. Keene, N. S. Hall, D. K. Boyd, A. L. Dixon, and Dr. I. W. Fraser; elders, Messrs George Rush, W. Kemp, L. G. Taylor, G. Telfer, and D. Anderson.
