QUALITY OF N.Z. GOODS
COMPARISON WITH IMPORTS t From Our Own Reporter HANMER SPRINGS, October 8. During the year, limited quantities of imported clothing have reached New Zealand and have been placed on sale. Thus an interesting comparison of price and quality has been afforded, m no way detrimental to the greater bulk of New Zealand manufactured apparel,” said Mr J. J. Delahunt (vicepresident) in his address to the New Zealand Council of Garment Manufacturers, at Hanmer Springs to-day. “There have been complaints of shoddy New Zealand clothing which, when fully investigated, were found to relate to imported garments. It is unfortunate that the same degree of publicity was not afforded to the rebuttal as, in many instances, was given to the original complaint. “Nevertheless, I would not be justified in assuming that our production technique has reached a stage which renders the quality of our products beyond criticism,’’ said Mr Delahunt.
