ELDERLY MAN’S DEATH

BODY FOUND IN AVON RIVER

An inquest into the death of John Joseph Hodgson, aged 7Q, of 226 Salisbury street, whose body was found lying in a shallow part of the Avon river near the Madras street bridge late on Friday evening, was held on Saturday morning before Mr Raymond Ferner, and, adjourned sine die after evidence of identification had been given. Mr Hodgson had been a farmer for the last 30 years. Before that he was a police constable stationed at Christchurch.
