APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED From Our Own Reporter WELLINGTON. October 3. Father Cyr, S.M., was elected Superior-General of the Society of Mary at the General Chapter of the society, which took place in Rome recently. Father Cyr is Provincial of the Province of Boston, United States. He succeeded Father RieU, j a French priest, who has resigned. Father D. H. Hurley, who was at one time at Boulcott street, Wellington, has been elected to the Superior-General’s Council. Father Hurley was formerly Provincial of the Province of Australia and New Zealand, but . when these, were made separate provinces several years ago, he went to Australia as first Provincial of that province. Father T. M. Heffernan, the present Provincial of New Zealand. Dr. V. Geaney, and Father J. Dowling, the New Zealand delegates to the General Chapter, will spend some time in Europe before returning to New Zealand.
