RADIO ENUNCIATION
Sir, —I agree with Ngarie Mansfield in her criticism of Miss Marsh’s address and disagree with your correspondent “A.W.,” who I would refer to a letter which, appears near his letter in the same edition of “The Press.” It is in reference to “The Anatomist,’ a play produced by Miss • Marsh. The correspondent says: “Drama appeals primarily to the ear; and no amount of fine settings and superb exits can excuse unintelligible gibberish.” Apparently Miss Marsh is not having the success she deserves in her effort to improve babbling and slurred careless speech. I heartily disagree with Miss Marsh that only the best of every type of entertainment should be given. We must look to the future. Her idea might pave the way, when television comes, to exhibitions of “Strip-Tease,” the “Can Can,” “Nudism,” and more murders. —Yours, etc., x CHARLES STEWART. October 3, 1947.
