DAIRY WORKERS’ WAGES
INCREASE NOT PAYABLE YET (P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 3. The payment of retrospective increases from November 1, 1946, in dairy farm workers’ wages was referred to by Mr W. N. Perry. Dominion president of Federated Farmers. Mr Perry said the Dairy Products Marketing Commission had decided to refer this matter, together with tne question of rates of wages necessitated by the increase in labour reward incorporated in the new price, to the Minister of Labour (Mr A. McLagan). The Minister had been approached. and an early meeting of the interested parties was hoped for. Farmers should note, he said, tnax until the order had been gazettea they should not make any retrospective adjustments in wages to November 1, 1946.
