BUILDING PERMITS
FIGURES FOR SEPTEMBER Building permits issued at Christchurch last month were worth £56,625 more than those granted in September, 1946. The value of permits issued for the five months ended on September 30 also showed a rise of nearly £60,000 on. the figures for the corresponding period last year. The value of permits issued last month in each ward of the city, with the corresponding figures for July last year in parenthesis, was as follows: Central (inner area). £20,880 (£2128); outer area, £9340 (£7734)St. Albans, £34,334 (£11.018); Sydenham, £14.395 (£13,385); Linwood. £13.419 (£9640); Spreydon, £9927 (£6603); Woolston, £20.825 (£19,319); New Brighton. £17.866 (£15.574); Sumner, £4975 (£3935). Totals. £145,961 (£89,336). Total number of permits issued, 194 (219).
For the five months, the values were £597.776 compared with £540,338. The number of permits granted was 967 and 1289.
