MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS A decision io ask tha New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association to confer with sports dealers in Wellington about making tennis balls available to tennis associations at cost price for use in tournaments and competition games was made at the meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association last evening. The Beckenham Club wrote asking for permission to use courts at Wilding Park for its opening day, on October 4, and for three months after that date. The letter explained that the Beckenham courts were to be closed for repairs, and would be probably out of commission for seme time. It was deciced to grant the club the use uf four courts rent free, at Wilding Park during the week, until its owo courts were again available for use, rnd on Saturdays if the courts were fiot required for competition games. The resignation of toe North Beach Club from the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association was accepted.
The Ctagc Lawn Tennis Association wrote thanking toe Canterbury Association for its generous action in forgoing toe 1948 South Island tennis championships at ChriTtchureh in favour of Otago. Advice was received from the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association approving Canterbury’s application to hold the New Zealand junior championships at Christchurch from January 19 to 23, 194®. To stop non-affiliated players using the association’s courts at "Wilding Park, it was decided to install a book which every player would be required to sign, giving his name and club, before using the courts.
