Box 685, Chch. 8318 GOVERNMENTS OF MALAYAN UNION AND SlNGAPORE—Appointment of SENIOR INCOME TAX ASSESSMENT OFFICERS: Candidates are required for the appointment as Senior Assessment Officers ■ in the service of the Governments of the Malayan Union and Singapore in connexion with the introduction of Income Tax in Malaya. Candidates who are required to possess a thorough knowledge of income tax law and practice, and to be familiar with commercial practice and accounts, should be prepared to make their career, in the Income Tax Department in Malaya. In the case of men already employed in Inland Revenue work, posts would be permanent and pensionable. In the case of candidates not already so employed, engagement will oe on agreement for three years in the first instance with prospects of appointment to the permanent and pensionable establishment. Candidates should preferably be between 30 and 35 years of age, but younger or older men will be considered. Duties of selected candidates will be to organise and control sections of the Income Tax Department, to .examine accounts submitted in support of returns from companies and trading organisations, and to agree figures for assessment with the taxpayers and their professional advisers.
