ROYAL ALBATROSS COLONY

VANDALISM AT TAIAROA HEAD

<P.A.) DUNEDIN. October 1. It is feared that the royal albatross colon,, at Taiaroa Head, Otago Peninsula, may have been oroken up through the activities of sightseers and vandals who have stolen and broken eggs. The colony was unique in that nowhere else in the world did royal albatrosses breed so near inhabited centres.

Th. birds are still feeding in the waters off Taiaroa Head, but are no longei landing on the head.
