DEARER BACON AND HAM
WITHDRAWAL OF SUBSIDY (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 30. As a result of the withdrawal of the Government subsidy’ to bacon curers, the retail price of bacon was advanced by approximately 4d a pound as from yesterday. The subsidy, which held prices to the 1939 levels, cost £260,000. There has also been a rise of Id a pound in the price of ham. •
