SOUTH ISLAND AIR RACE

NEW PLYMOUTH ENTRY AIR FORCE ASSOCIATION AS SPONSOR “The Press” Special Service NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept 30. The New Plymouth Afero Club has received its first sponsor for an aircraft to take part in the South Island air race to be conducted by the Canterbury Aero Club next February. At a meeting of the club and representatives of the New Plymouth branch of the Air Force Association, the association reserved to cover the expense that would be incurred by one of the club’s planes taking part in the race. As far as is known, New Plymouth is the first branch of the association

to make such an offer. The aircraft, to be flown in the race by one of the club’s former Air Force pilots, will carry a goodwill message to all South Island branches and will bear on its fuselage the name of its sponsor. It is thought likely that another of the club’s planes will be sponsored by medical practitioners in the New Plymouth borough. Eventually the club hopes to be represented by four or five planes.
