TOKYO STUDENTS HELP IN FLOOD RESCUE WORK.—Hundreds of Japanese were drowned in the recent floods which submerged a quarter of Tokyo to a depth of six feet. In this photograph, youths from a Tokyo college are seen stringing a rope across swirling flood waters to reach a partly-submerged home. It is estimated that about 250,000 houses were flooded. The floods were caused by the Tone and Naka rivers breaking their banks after seven days of rain.
