WESTERN SAMOA
ASSURING PROGRESS OF PEOPLE
(Rec. 9 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 25. “The New Zealand Government has done much for the people of Western Samoa, but much remains still undone, and if future progress is to be assured, fundamental changes will be in order,” said Mr Francis B. Sayre (United States), in an interview, published by the United Nations’ weekly bulletin, on his work with the Trusteeship Council’s investigation mission which he headed in Western Samoa. “The New Zealand Government is itself convinced of this, and the Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) hag, already announced his Government’s desire to move forward.”
Mr Sayre added that the mission’s report was ready for printing and would be in the hands Of Trusteeship Council members well in advance of the council’s session in
