BANDSMEN RETURN FROM AUSTRALIA

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, September 26. Twenty-four members of the Wellington Waterside Silver Eand returned to New Zealand on the flyingboat to-day after competing in the Australian and New Zealand band championships at Newcastle, Thirteen other members of the band flew back on Thursday, and the two other bandsmen will return to-morrow. The secretary (Mr E Ormrod) said he had nothing further to add to the remarks made by the president of the band (Mr A. Dellaway), who returned on Thursday, except to say that the standard of music was very high. The performance of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade Band in playing its own selection was the best band music he had ever heard.
