DECISION BY BRITAIN, U.S., AND FRANCE

WASHINGTON. September 24. The Untied States, Britain and France have agreed to distribute promptly part of the gold store oi .330,01)0,00.0 dollars seized from the Germans during the war. This was announced-to-day by the United States Acting-Secretary of State .(Mr Robert Lovett). He told a press conference that the Big Three had agreed to restore the gold to those countries from which the Nazis had looted it. Although this did not eliminate the need fop .emergency aid for western Europe from file United States, it should help to ease France over her present financial difficulties, he added. A preliminary distribution of this gold by October 15 would be attempted, as France would face a financial crisis within a few weeks. Mr. Lovett explained that 11 counhed filed claims totalling 800,000,000 dollars to Nazi-looted gold, and that half the amount of the gold actually recovered must be withheld to meet claims. The claimants comprise France. Albania Austria, Belgium, Czecho. Slavia. Mr Lovett said that Italy and France were in more urgent need of assistance than Britain.
