OFFICIAL FORECASTS

••The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, Sept. 25. The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Mt-mmological Cfrice, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: there is a deep depression east of the North Island. An anti-cyclone covers south-eastern Australia. Forecast; southerly winds fresh or strong on parts of the coast, moderate inland. A few further showers about and north of Hanks Peninsula, but skies clearing gradually from the south. Temperatures cold. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate variable winds. Southwesterlies freshening at times. Weather fair to fine, though cold.

The weather in Christchurch yesterday was cold with a moderate south-west Wind and occasional showers. At 1 o’clock this morning there •were some clouds in the sky and there was a strong west wind. The barometer at 29.93 inches (1013.5 millibars) was rising.
