CHANCELLOR OF THE DIOCESE
APPOINTMENT OF MR E. C. CHAMPION
Mr E. C. Champion has been appointed , chancellor of the diocese of Christchurch by Archbishop West-Wat-son. An appointment to this office was made necessary by the resignation of Mr Justice Gresson, who had been chancellor since 1943. Mr Champion has had a long experience of the work of the diocese, having been a member of the Standing Committee since 1931, when he was synodsman and churchwarden for Woolston. He has been for different periods on the vestry of St. Barnabas’ Church, Fendalton, and at the present time is synodsman for the Chatham Islands. He has been a church property trustee since 1937. He is also a member of the Clergy Pension Board, St. Margaret’s College Trust Board, and the council of St. Saviour’s Guild. Mr Champion is a member of General Synod and its standing committee, as well as chairman of the finance committee of General Synod, and a member of the Provincial Pension Board.
