U.S. SENATOR’S ADVICE
w BRITISH MUST LOWER THEIR STANDARDS (Rec. 8 P.m.) WASHINGTON, Sept 14. Senator C. D. Buck (Republican, Delaware), who heads the senate banking sub-committee whieb will overhaul the Reconstruction Finance Corporation, said to-day in a radio session: “The British people must Jower their standards in keeping with their income, tighten their belts, and sweat and work in an effort to regain their self-respect.” Senator Buck said the United States should not make further loans to Britain except for food. He asserted that Britain’s first need was new leadership to replace the Socialist Government, which had “botched the job."
