JEWISH NEW YEAR
SERVICES HELD IN CHRISTCHURCH The Jewish New Year (5708) began at sunset on Sunday, and to mark its beginning, special services were held in the Christchurch Synagogue yesterday. A special feature of the services, was the unveiling of a new pulpit presented by the president of the Hebrew Congregation (Mr A. Rose), by Mr A. M. Hollander. Further services will be held this morning and this evening. The Jewish Day of Atonement will be observed from sunset on. Tuesday, September 23, till after sunset the following day.
