OVERSEAS SHIP HELD IN THE STREAM

When the pilot at Lyttelton went out to meet the overseas vessel Stafford (7130 tons) which arrived from Wellington on Saturday morning, the weather was calm, but by the time ne had brought the vessel to the inner entrance of the harbour, a gale was at its height. The Stafford was taken back to the stream, where she remained all day. The ship berthed yesterday morning. The Breeze, 622 tons, was several hours late in arriving at Lyttelton on Saturday morning Because of the gale.

A Press Association message received from Wanganui last evening stated that the Tiroa, 226 tons, had arrived there from Wellington for shelter. The Tiroa was bound for Patea.
