REPORTED REMARKS BY MR BAXTER FEDERATION OF LABOUR TO SEEK EXPLANATION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, September 5. The New Zealand Federation of Labour intends to get ih touch with its secretary <Mr K. McL. Baxter), who is now in Melbourne attending a meeting of the Australasian Council of Trade Unions, to learn the text of remarks he is reported to have made in connexion with New Zealand’s 40hour five-day week. “The statement purported to have beeqJYnade by Mr Baxter does not appear to be in line with the policy and* opinipn of the New Zealand Federation of Labour,” says a statement by ♦Ha federation.
