MOUNT ALBERT BY-ELECTION

UNION NOT TO HELP WITH FUNDS (P.A.) AUCKLAND, September 5. It is understood that as a protest against certain aspects of political Labour’s policy, the Auckland Engineers’ Union has decided to make no contributions to the Labour Party’s campaign for the Mount Albert by-elec-tion. Union members who attended a special general meeting say that contributions were refused as a protest against the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act Amendment Bill, against the recent Arbitration Court wages pronouncement, against no concession to trade union requests for worker representation on the Price Tribunal, and the Government’s failure to invoke quotas for industry.
