N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS CANTERBURY LEADS IN A GRADE (P.A.) NELSON, August 29. The third day of the New Zealand basketball championships saw Canterbury continue its unbeaten record with six wins for 12 championship points in the A grade. Canterbury’s last game to-mor-row morning will be against Wellington, which has not shown very good form. The finalists in the B grade will be Horowhenua and Tauranga, and in the C grade Nelson and Marlborough. Results to-day were:— A Grade.—Canterbury 35, Otago 12; Manawatu 28, Hawke’s Bay 24; Auckland 25. Wellington 18; Wanganui 20, Southland 16. B Grade Matamata 24, Poverty Bay 20; Horowhenua 15. South Canterbury 13; Southland Minor 25, Rotorua-Bay of Plenty 15; Waikato 23, Taranaki 18. C Grade.—Marlborough 26, Buller 11; Canterbury Minor 22, Otago Minor 8; Nelson 27, West Coast 12; Temuka 21, Hawke’s Bay Minor 19.
