STRIKE BALLOTS BILL
SECOND READING NEXT WEEK
IMPORTANT CHANGES TO CLAUSE
(From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON. August 29. The Industrial Conciliation and ArDitration Amendment Bill, which contains the highly controversial secret ballot clause, will make its reappearance in the House of Representatives much earlier than had been expected. The bill had been sent to the Labour Bills Committee, and it had been thought that discussion on It might wait until after the long Budget debate was finished, but it was indicated tonight ihat the bill will come before the House for the second reading debate next week, possibly on Tuesday. The debate is expected to be one of the most interesting of the session. Opposition members are curious about the changes made to the secret ballot clause, which alter the penalties which can be imposed for breaches.
