J. D. NASH HAS GOOD GOLF SCORE ■ PA.) WELLINGTON, August 28 The highlight of to-day's events in the New Zealand University tournament was the performance of J. D. Nash (Victoria , in the first round of the goii championship on the Hutt Club’s course. After qualifying top on Wednesday, Nash excelled •limself with a score of 7Z, two less than the standard scratch score, to beat his Auckland opponent, B. W Robinson, 3 and 1. Robinson's round of 74 was a great improvement on his qualifying aggregate of 166, but he was unable to meet Nash’s demands from the tee or his superb iron play. In the afternoon Nash beat P. J. Kincaid ‘Victoria}. 4 and 3. R. F. Mackie (Victoria} also distinguished himseif in the second round with a score of 74 to beat H. A Montgomery 'Canterbury), 3 and I. The New Zealand foursomes champion D. H. Graham, recovered some of his form to win both his matches, his morning round being 75.
