ROLL OF HONOUR UNVEILED

CEREMONY AT MAIREHAU A roll of honour, on which the names of 46 former servicemen of the district were inscribed, was unveiled at a ceremony held in the Mairehau Hall on Sunday afternoon. Mrs Perry, mother of Gunner J. P. Perry, the only serviceman of the district who paid the supreme sacrifice, performed the unveiling ceremony. Short addresses were given by Messrs W. H. Gillespie, M.P., F. W. Walter (a member of the Waimairi Council). W. A. Black (representing former servicemen of Mairehau). H. E. Batchelor (R.S.A.), and the Revs. J. E. Stewart, J. B. Dawson. and W. T. Williams.

The roll of honour had been placed in the hall by the Mairehau Soldiers’ Entertainment Committee, and all who had contributed towards its cost were thanked.
