AID TO BRITAIN COMMITTEE
FIRST MEETING THIS WEEK <P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 20 “I am very pleased to report that from every part of the country there is a wonderful response from all sections of the community inquiring what individuals and organisations may do to assist the campaign for helping Britain,” said the chairman of the Permanent Aid to Britain Committee (Mr F. P. Walsh) to-day. He said that all requests and suggestions would be considered as quickly as possible by the committee, which had already arranged its first meeting for Thursday morning. Before he left for Australia, the Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) arranged for the setting up of a permanent secretariat and Mr R. F. Wilson, M.Cotn., of the Department of Industries and Commerce, has been appointed secretary. Mr Wilson was formerly private secretary to the late Mr D. G. Sullivan when he was Minister of Industries and Commerce.
