THE BUDGET
Sir,—Since the Government is the servant of the people, a Budget should be pared down to bare necessities, and not brought forward with the object of showing a surplus. In my opinion, to maintain a firm hold on war taxes and transfer them (with the exception of a few tens of thousands for J Force) for civil purposes is thoroughly dishonest.—Yours, etc., TAXPAYER. August 26. 1947.
