UNIVERSITY WINTER TOURNAMENT
EVENT OPENS AT WELLINGTON (P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 28. The New Zealand University’s first full winter tournament to be held in Wellington began to-day with men’s and women’s hockey matches at Karori Park and table tennis at the Star Boating Club. In the visiting teams there are nearly 400 players. An extensive programme of sporting activities has been arranged by the tournament committee of the Victoria University College. The tournament will end on Mpnday. Results were:—
Men’s Hockey.—Victoria A 2, Victoria B 1; Auckland 2, Otago 2; Canterbury 3, Massey 1. Women’s Hockey.—Victoria A 5, Victoria B 0. Otago 5, Auckland 3; Canterbury 4, Massey 2.
