SCHOOL TEACHERS’ TOURNAMENT

The annual school teachers’ golf tournament, which was opened yesterday at the Waitikiri course, after a lapse of seven years, drew competitors from as far afield as Otago. The best cards for the Pedagogic Bowl were as follows:—J. A. Masterton, 92 19 ?3; 2* Ji* Har Per, 91, 18—73; D. Johnston, 82, 8—74; A. R. Blank, 76. 1—75; A. B. Cottee, 81, 6—75; A. L. Scott, 87, 6—81; G. A. Bain, 97, 24—83. In the play-off over nine holes, Masterton beat Harper by two strokes and won the bowl. In the foursomes handicap for the Anderson Cup, R. D. Johnston and G. A. Bain tied with A. R. Blank and A. J. Scott, the former pair winning the play-off over nine holes by one stroke. The Pedagogic Peddle (primary v secondary schools) was won by the primary schools. BOYLE CUP Competition for the Boyle Challenge Cup has been revived after a lapse of nearly nine years. The cup was given by the late Mrs A. Boyle for competition amongst women’s clubs, and it was laid down that each team should comprise not fewer than five and not more than six E layers, and that the competition should e decided by match play, on handicap 2£ < L cl L p ? ras YL on in 1938 by the Cheviot Club, but as that club has not resumed pl 3 y L the Christchurch Ladies’ Club, Which controls the competition, recalled the cup and invited challenges.
