CANTERBURY WINS MATCH AT TIMARU From Our Own Reporter TIMARU, Aug. 24. Playing open games, and basketball that was really superior in all departments, Canterbury beat South Canterbury in two representative matches at Timaru on Saturday. Scores were:—Canterbury B 23, South Canterbury A 10; Canterbury second grade 20, South Canterbury 9. The shooting of the visiting players was more accurate in both games. The three South Canterbury defence players in the senior match played an outstanding game, but could not get the ball through to their forwards. LOWER GRADE MATCHES Lower grade competitions under the control of the Canterbury Women’s Basketball Association were continued on Saturday. Results:— Third Grade.—Section II final: Wesley A 12, North Beach A 11. Section IV final: Addington A 20, Lichfield 15. Semifinal: Spreydon 15, Cranmer 13. Fourth Grade. —Section II final: Digby’s C 14, Nazareth B 13. Quarter-finals: Technical A 17, West Old Girls B 11. Sacred Heart 17, M.Y.P.C. 10. Fifth Grade.—Section 111 final: N.Z. Farmers 9, Kowhai 7. Quarter-final: Colomba 21. St. Nicholas 8; Cathedral B 20, Parisco B 3. Sixth Grade.—Technical A 28, Sutherland’s 3.
