CENTENARY EXHIBITION
Sir, —I wish to protest against the proposal to hold an exhibition in Christchurch in 1950. Granted it would give Christchurch much publicity, in these times of shortages we should have worthier objectives. In spite of assurances that the erection of exhibition buildings will not hold up other building programmes, much labour and a certain amount of essential building material will be used. I would suggest that we use the labour and the materials required for the exhibition buildings in making a determined effort to build enough new houses and schools to cater for the younger members of our society. When that is accomplished we could hold an .exhibition to advertise our model city.— Yours, etc., GEORGE GUY. August 15, 1947.
