STOCK EXCHANGES MARKETS FIRM AT LATE RATES Markets generally were firm at late rates on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday, with the bulk of the dealings in industrials and chain stores. Broken Hill Proprietary continued their upward move with business at 51s 6d. Macduffs moved up 3d to 43s 9d, and closed strongly, with buyers at 44s—preference shares eased 6d to 295, Standard Cement lost Is, with dealings at 25s 6d. Woolworths, Ltd., were fractionally weaker, with dealings and further sellers at 24s 7d.
