BATHS AND TOWN HALL
Sir, —Most of your readers will agree with “Spectator” in writing “if a town hall is worth having it is worth paying for.” Of course we want a town hall, and we want it as soon as possible. It seems such a pity that in a place like Christchurch, where the musical spirit is burning so brightly, and the repertory is so strong we should put up with such an inadequate place as the-Civic Theatre. Could not the vigorous committees who organise these functions so successfully make a concerted drive to open our pockets, stir our civic pride and get it done? —Yours, etc., READER. July 25, 1947.
