CHIEF MESSENGER TO RETIRE

FORTY-TWO YEARS’ SERVICE IN PARLIAMENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 25. Mr J. R. Taylor, chief messenger of the House of Representatives, is to retire at the end of the present session. He has been a servant of the New Zealand Parliament under 10 Prime Ministers. Mr Taylor has had 42 years in Parliament Buildings, broken only by his service during the war of 1914-18. He is also a veteran of the South African War. He left New Zealand in 1901 with the 7th Contingent.
