ASSOCIATION’S ANNUAL MEETING

The president, Mrs G. W. Smithson, presided at the thirty-fourth annual general meeting of the Canterbury Croquet Association. The report disclosed that the season had been most satisfactory. The membership had increased and the Cheviot and St. Martins Club had been granted affiliation. The election of officers resulted dent, Mrs G. W. Smithson; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames S. F. Marshall, G. Owen, A. S. Clark, and W. Turner, Miss A. McMillan, and Mr H. Nettleton; secretary and treasurer, Mrs J. S. Maddren; referee, Mrs R. Kellaway; handicapper. Mrs Maddren: auditor. Mr C. H. Smith; tournament. committee, Mesdames S. Marshall, R. Kellaway, G. Owen. W. E. McKay,. L. Robinson, J. Palmer. Miss McMillan, and H. Nettleton: tournament manager, Mrs Maddren; assistant manager, Mrs Kellaway. It was decided to commence the annual senior tournament on November 18 and the junior on February 19. 1948. Affiliation was granted to the Darfleld Club.

LINWOOD-AVONSIDE CLUB

The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Linwood-Avon-side Croquet Club:—patron, Mrs P. C. Brown; president, Mrs G. Cooper; vicepresidents, Mesdames F. Coulter and A. P. Norman; honorary secretary, Mrs E. J. Tucker; honorary treasurer, Mrs I. M. Pratt; committee. Mesdames N. Gandell, W. J. Minogue, and V. W. Spinks; delegate to Canterbury Croquet Centre. Mrs G. Cooper: club captain. Mrs R. Hampton; match committee. Mesdames A. P. Norman, J. Owen. E. M. Lutton, and J. Rattray.
