90TH BIRTHDAY

Miss K. M. Wilkinson, 23 Innes road, assisted by her cousin. Miss Freda Wilkinson, entertained their uncle, Mr James Reeve Wilkinson, on the occasion of his 90th birthday. Many relations were present from town and country, representing four generations, and a large number of congratulatory letters and messages were received—some from Mr Wilkinson’s pupils of olden days and from friends connected with Canterbury University College, including Sir James Hight. In responding to the toast of his health, Mr Wilkinson entertained the guests with many interesting reminiscences, adding that his only regret was that his daughter and grandchildren, who live in Suva, were not able to be present. Mr Wilkinson, at 90, is a great advocate of active exercise and says that he looks on his spade as one of his best friends.
