GOVERNMENT TOURIST BUREAU

NEW PREMISES IN POST OFFICE The motor-vehicle registration ' and tyre control sections of the Christchurch Post Office have been shifted to the Post Office building in Hereford street, and the premises formerly occupied by them in the old Post Office in the square will be taken over by the Government Tourist Bureau. The vehicle registration section is at present working in the Society of Arts building in Armagh street, but will occupy its new premises on the first floor of the Hereford street building next Monday. It is expected that it will be about two months before the necessary renovations are completed, and the Tourist Bureau is ready to occupy its office. The bureau has been in its present office for many years, and with the growth of the service the staff had to work to cramped quarters, and there was little room for the long queues which formed during busy holiday seasons.
