OFFICIAL FORECASTS “ The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON, July 2. The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: A depression near the North Cape Is moving slowly across northern North Island. An intense cyclone covers the South Island. Forecast to 5 p.m. Thursday: light to moderate variable winds, northeasterlies predominating near the coast. Weather fair though cold. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate easterly winds. Weather continuing fine, though cold. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine but cold after a frost of 14.2 degrees. There was a light southerly wind. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast and there was no wind. The barometer at 30.35 inches (1027.8 millibars) was steady.
